All Natural Farming

The vast majority of cannabis in the United States is grown with synthetic chemicals, many of which are banned for use on products for human consumption.

Island Farms grows and processes 100% of our plants on site. We use organic / all natural methods - no synthetics ever. We use fertilizers such as aloe, bone meal and worm castings. To deal with pests we release native predatory mites and water nematodes into our soil. We work in harmony with the earth to cultivate the healthiest happiest plants. Our processing facility uses organic / natural ingredients and clean procedures resulting in high quality, medical grade products.

Island’s care and attention to detail reaches all aspects of our farm. We maintain strict cleanliness standards, equipment sterilization and pathogen control. We test to ensure consistent, potent, clean, healthy supplements.

Living Soil

The soil is alive! We add natural fertilizers and beneficial microbes to our soil to supplement and benefit the already existing soil biome. Microbes process and break down these fertilizers to make them available to the plant. Bacteria and fungi are extremely important for soil health and crucial for plant health!

Sustainable Farming

When growing cannabis, many people try to duplicate nature’s design indoors. However, it is nearly impossible and requires massive amounts of energy. Island cannabis is grown outdoors in living soil with natural fertilizers. We use sustainable farming methods such as encouraging diverse native cover crops, no tillage, and using integrated pest management. We treat the earth with respect and love resulting in healthy plants and happy people.

Integrated Pest Managment

To deal with pests we release native predatory mites and water nematodes into our soil. Our processing facility uses organic / natural ingredients and clean procedures resulting in high quality, medical grade products.

Natural vs Synthetic Fertilizers

The way a plant uses nutrients is vastly different between natural nutrients and synthetic chemical fertilizers.

NATURAL BIOLOGICAL FERTILIZER

Materials derived from plants, animals (or their residues) and naturally occurring minerals.

Soil & Microbe Interaction: Natural fertilizers feed the microbes in the soil, and the plants are fed by the microbes. 90% of all plants have this symbiotic relationship.

Bud Appearance: Naturally grown cannabis varies in appearance. It typically has flowers that are slightly airy, soft, sticky and have small leaves, orange hairs and frosty trichomes.

Health Effects: All natural products allows you to reap all the health benefits of cannabis, without having to worry about the nasty side effects of synthetic fertilizers.

SYNTHETIC CHEMICAL FERTILIZER

Man-made, inorganic compounds usually manufactured from petroleum byproducts.

Soil & Microbe Interaction: When plants are fed synthetic fertilizers, most of the microbes die and the plant becomes dependent on the synthetic chemicals as its source of nutrition. These chemicals are absorbed and forever in the plant.

Bud Appearance:  Synthetically grown cannabis usually has dense, hard buds with no visible leaves.

Health Effects: When smoked, some notice a ‘chemical’ taste or harsh sensations in the back of the throat. It regularly causes headaches and is documented to cause cancer, infections, and organ failures - any of which may be fatal.
